how many fires have you had because of not having Bladders the fires start at the carbs from breakage of the plastic fittings at the fuel lines . TRUE SO MAKE THAT MANDATORY . Its a $75 dollar fix

You are so right. The carbs & fuel lines are the problem, carbs getting knocked off, fuel running down on hot exhausts & poof. As far as blatters, this is not the problem solver for the 600's. I have seen only 1 tail tank fie & that was Stans at Plaza when the titanium rotor I believe burnt a hole in the fuel LINE not the TANK. The issues are driver area protection that is needed from radiator hoses coming off & burning lower parts of the driver. The main problem I see is the carbs getting knocked off and raw fuel running onto the exhaust and into the drivers compartment. Like Mr.Cook states, a $75.00 fix is a heck of a lot better that a $795.00 cost to stop less than 1% of our problems of the drivers safety. Before I would put out for a bladder, it would be better to invest in an onboard Halon fire system.

In reply to merace comment I may run there this year 2 or 3 times and I think that the bladder rule is going to stop a lot of cars from running at Plaza and we are 1 of them , I was only posting my opinion if you like the rule GREAT run there and post your Name so every one can see who this is another fix might be to put a connection to the carbs that when they get knocked off that it unplugs the ground from the pump that stops the flow of fuel Bob Mosley runs this on his car (MOMO) SORRY for the post its not to stir up people just to help Rick Cook

If you don't wanna run Plaza because of a safety item. Don't.

I'm not trying to create any trouble but Cook and 1gramps do make pretty good points in this safety concept. bladders are way too over priced for a piece of rubber, and why spend money on something thats only half as dangerous as the fittings connecting the fuel line to the carbs. or better yet the red hot brake rotor right underneath the fuel tank and driver seat. i completely understand that you are trying to make these cars safer but in this economy a fix like that is just going to push drivers away from the track. my thought is to focus more on the simpler safety fixes
(ex: make a shield or a guard that covers the brake rotor so no sparks or debris will hit the tank or driver.)
mandating them type of fixes are more understandable

oh yah almost forgot... hay "merace", seriously take a chill pill!your just probably upset because you where one of the people who have a bladder tank back when they fist started to mandate it. we arnt afraid to race elsewhere, actualy sounds like a good idea! i was getting pritty tired of that hole on turn one anyways
